Overview
Bastar Dussehra is one of India’s most unique and longest-running festivals, celebrated in Bastar. Spanning 75 days, this centuries-old tradition dates back to King Purushottam Dev and is still organized by the royal family. The festival showcases rich tribal culture, highlighted by a massive two-storey chariot pulled by over 400 people.
Itinerary
Arrive in the morning at Vizag Airport and drive to Rayagada ( approx 4.5 hrs drive). Overnight at hotel in Rayagada.
Morning drive to Chatikona Market to see Dongria Kondh tribe, different from others with their distinct hair dresses & jewelery. After lunch drive to Semiliguda, visiting Mali and Kondh tribal villages. Overnight in Semiliguda. ( Must be on Wednesday)
After breakfast drive to Onukudeli Market to see one of the most primitive tribe of the world, The Bondas & Gadabas. Overnight at Hotel . ( Must be on Thursday)
Today visit the largest weekly market at Kunduli in southern Odisha. You will meet here Parojas and Mali tribes, Later visit to some Mal and Paroja tribal villages . Overnight in Semiliguda . ( Must be Friday.)
After breakfast drive to Jagdalpur on the way visiting Bhatra tribal Village and their weaving village in Kotpad. Afternoon visit their dussehra in the village. Overnight at Jagdalpur.
After breakfast drive to visit the palace , where different tribes came to pay respect to the King. Afternoon visit of Bastar Dussehra Festival to see how the tribes take their king to the Chariot by dancing with respect . Overnight in Jagdalpur.
Morning Visit Bison Maria tribal village, famous for their hospitality. Afternoon drive to Kanker on the way visiting Kondagaon Artisan village. Overnight in Kanker.
After breakfast drive to visit Ghotul Muria tribal villages. Overnight in Kanker Palace.
After breakfast drive to Raipur airport ( 3.5 hrs drive )for onward journey.
